Allan Wilson won't challenge

A line has been drawn under the recent Cunninghame North election, as the Labour Party has decided not to contest the result. Local labour candidate Allan Wilson said he was ‘disappointed’ by the decision not to press for a full manual recount of all the votes cast but understands the reason for it.
‘The lawyers said there was a strong case for a recount but felt that to pursue it would, in their words, ‘open a can of worms’ and lead to a prolonged and potentially very expensive court case that would involve other parties not directly affected by the Cunninghame North ballot’, said Mr Wilson. The Sheriff holds the ballot papers for 12 months and no-one has access to them without a court order.
